First responders release video for child abuse prevention

-

Local first responders collaborated with the Exchange Club’s Family Resource Center on a video raising awareness about child abuse to coincide with Child Help National Day of Hope.

The video is aimed at promoting healthy family relationships and safeguarding children within our community. In observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month this April, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Floyd County Police Department, Rome Police Department, Rome Floyd Fire Department, and the Exchange Clubs Family Resource Center worked together on the initiative.

“We are releasing this video on April 3, 2024, recognized as Child Help National Day of Hope. The video seeks to raise awareness about the prevalence of child abuse in the United States,” said FCSO Public Information Officer Corey Bowers. “Unfortunately, according to the National Children’s Alliance, 600,000 children fall victim to abuse each year.”

The video will be available starting Wednesday on the social media accounts and websites of the agencies and the Rome News-tribune.

The Exchange Club Family Resource Center serves families with children ages 12 and younger, as well as expectant parents, according to the release.
