WILLOW GLEN>> Three students from Presentati­on High School in Willow Glen are semifinali­sts for this year’s National Merit Scholarshi­p award, making them eligible for thousands of corporate and school-sponsored scholarshi­ps. The students — Nandita Jayanthi, Sheryl Mathew and Margaret Wang—were chosen for their outstandin­g performanc­e on the PSAT.

ROSE GARDEN>> Fifteen students from Bellarmine College Preparator­y in Rose Garden are semifinali­sts for this year’s National Merit Scholarshi­p award, making them eligible for thousands of corporate and schoolspon­sored scholarshi­ps. The students—geoffrey Golan, Rijul Jain, Joel Jothipraka­sam, Safwaan Khan, Robin Liu, Surya Midha, Ansh Nagwekar, Ashok Ramkumar, Joseph Sarmenta, Krishna Saxena, Kristof Sochan, Andrew Tan, Nolan Topper, Avinash Upadhyayul­a and Austin Yang— were chosen for their outstandin­g performanc­e on the PSAT.

This month, Rose Garden-based Playful People Production­s has launched a new performing arts and craft class subscripti­on service. Users can sign up for any of 10 virtual classes that cover topics including spooky makeup and effects, sound design and how to create stage sets and props. Some classes last several weeks, while others are one-night events. Each class comes with a crate of materials and access to the online class. The students—ryan Ayoubi, Simran Bagri, Alex D. Chen, Alex Z. Chen, Peter Chong, Kelly Cui, Justin Jang, Minseo Kim, Nicole Kim, Yujung Kim, Duy Lam, Grace Li, Isaac Li, Xiaoran Li, Jessica Lin, Nam Nguyen, Kylie Roberts, Noora Soroushnej­ad, Ryan Vakhshoori, John Wang, Annie Xu, Jonathan Yue and Ivan Zhu—were chosen for their outstandin­g performanc­e on the PSAT. CAMBRIAN>> Fourstuden­ts from Branham High School in Cambrian are semifinali­sts for this year’s National Merit Scholarshi­p award, making them eligible for thousands of corporate and school-sponsored scholarshi­ps. The students— Alexander Goldberg, Tiffany La, Tarang Lunawat and Mingyuan Song— were chosen for their outstandin­g performanc­e on the PSAT.
