Decision to postpone to Sept. 20 follows five students testing positive for virus
Novi High School has postponed all athletic contests and practices until Sept. 20 due to five students testing positive for COVID-19.
In at tweet sent at approximately 7:40 p.m., athletic director Brian Gordon wrote: “Attention Novi High School student/athletes. All Contests and practices are postponed until Sept. 20th. Students may not use athletic facilities at Novi High School and middle school during this time. Novi middle school athletic events will run as scheduled.”
The Novi High School homepage the posted the following information from superintendent Dr. Steve Matthews:
“At the recommendation of the Oakland County Health Division, all students at Novi High School will be taught virtually on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 17-18. Five Novi High students tested positive for COVID-19 this week. The Oakland County Health Division has not completed its investigation and contact tracing. To err on the side of caution, we need Novi High School students to be home Thursday
and Friday.”
A letter was sent to parents and students of Novi High School from Matthews as well.
“The Oakland County Health Division has been contacted. They are conducting contact tracing. Students who may have been in close contact with the student who has tested positive will be contacted by the Oakland County Health Division,” Matthews indicated. “If your son or daughter is not contacted, it means that the Health Division
