Kosmo’s Week 3 predictions for Oakland County

-

Did you blink?

A third of the 2020 regular season is already over and you may have missed it if you weren’t paying attention.

The action has been fast and furious in Oakland County.

Boy oh boy, do the players and parents love to rub it in old Kosmo’s face when he gets a pick wrong.

As a former Detroit Lions coach once said, “how about a little decorum?”

Maybe Kosmo didn’t make a bad pick, maybe he was just trying to light a fire under a team?

Kosmo may be playing chess, while you are all playing checkers.

In reality, Kosmo is just tying to play tic tac toe.

Here’s the picks for Week 3: Friday

West Bloomfield at Clarkston: It’s the prime battle of the week, as two of the county’s top programs collide. A lot of future Saturday stars are in this one. Ultimately, Kosmo thinks the Lakers are going to be more explosive on offense and be able to get that one big play down the stretch to pull out a win. Kosmo Says: West Bloomfield

Bloomfield Hills at Rochester:

A pair of surprising 2-0 teams looking for a 3-0start. Rochester hasn’t been 3-0since 1993. Kosmo can’t pass up a nice story. The Falcons have a high-scoring offense that will be ready to go toe-to-toe with the Black Hawks skilled playmakers. Kosmo Says: Rochester

Detroit Country Day at Notre Dame Prep: There may not be a bigger game in Division 4football this weekend than in Pontiac. The Irish made Kosmo eat a lot of crow last weekend. Can they do it again? Country Day is a state finalist last year and the Jackets looked strong last week in their opener. Should be a great game, but Kosmo is going with DCD by a point. Kosmo Says: Country Day

Berkley at Troy: Another battle of two surprising 2-0teams. The Colts haven’t been 3-0since 1999, while Berkley is looking for its first 3-0start since 2016. Troy has had to grind for their two wins and Kosmo thinks that may help them get another victory on Friday. Kosmo Says: Troy Farmington at Stoney Creek: After a couple of nice road wins, the Cougars return home looking to continue their dominant ways. Kosmo Says: Stoney Creek

Lake Orion at Southfield A&T:

The Dragons have a lot of big moments in their opener. Can they recreate that on the road against a Southfield team that is 0-2, but very battle-tested? Kosmo Says: Lake Orion Rochester Adams at Birmingham Seaholm: The Maples were very impressive in Week 2and got back to playing the kind of football that got themto a semifinal appearance in 2019. Kosmo Says: Birmingham Seaholm North Farmington at Birmingham Groves: Just a game of connect the dots. North Farmington beat Adams. Adams beat Groves. North Farmington will be Groves. Kosmo Says: North Farmington

Walled Lake Western at Waterford Kettering: The Captains have proven they are going to be a tough team to beat, but the Warriors have the passing game to find a way. Kosmo Says: Western

Oak Park at Oxford: Both teams are coming off losses, but Kosmo likes Oxford to be the one to bounce back. Oak Park hasn’t seemed to get on the same page thus far in 2020. Kosmo Says: Oxford

South Lyon at Waterford

Mott: The Lions just find ways to win. It engrained in their program. Kosmo Says: South Lyon Milford at South Lyon East: Milford is an improved team, but East has some talented playmakers in the pass game that should push it to a win. Kosmo Says: South Lyon East Auburn Hills Avondale at Troy Athens: Athens has come up

just short the first two games of the season, but Kosmo sees the Red Hawks finding their way to the finish line this time. Kosmo Says: Athens

Walled Lake Northern at Walled Lake Central: The Knights have been just a play or two away from being 2-0, as opposed to 0-2. Kosmo Says: Northern

Pontiac at Royal Oak: The Ravens will get themselves on track against a Pontiac team still trying to put the pieces together. Kosmo

Says: Royal Oak

Royal Oak Shrine at Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes: The Lakers haven’t been able to get out of the blocks quite yet. It is going to be hard to do it this week against the Knights. Kosmo Says: Shrine Lakeland at Dearborn Divine Child: The Eagles have the offense. They just need to continue to avoid turnovers to keep winning games. Kosmo Says: Lakeland

Novi at Plymouth: Novi put up a fight last week andwill do it again on Friday, but Plymouth may have a little toomuch for the Wildcats again. Kosmo Says: Plymouth

Ortonville Brandon at Corunna: The Blackhawk

offense is on cruise control right nowand Corunna is just a minor speedbump. Kosmo Says: Brandon

Ferndale at Allen Park:

Ferndale has grinded out a pair of wins to start 2-0, but it’s a tough road trip to Allen Park, which is a bigger school. Kosmo Says: Allen Park

Center Line at Madison Heights Lamphere: How about the Rams? A 2-0start with 89points scored in two games. Lamphere hasn’t been 3-0since 1999. Let’s keep the train rolling. Kosmo Says: Lamphere

Clawson at Warren Lincoln: Kosmo has a hunch that the Trojans are going to get a big road win this week. Kosmo Says: Clawson

Holly at Flint Kearsley: The Bronchos have struggled defensively thus far in 2020 and it’s going to be tough to win this week until those issues get fixed. Kosmo Says: Flint Kearsley

Hazel Park at Marine City:

It’s a tough draw for Hazel Park, which has been struggling tomake stops on defense. Kosmo Says: Marine City

Allen Park Cabrini at Madison Heights Bishop Foley: Foley’s offense should be able to add to the defensive woes Cabrini has been having. Kosmo Says: Bishop Foley

Whitmore Lake at Auburn

Hills Oakland Christian: Oakland Christian has outscored its first two opponents 75-0. Whitmore Lake may be in for a long night. Kosmo Says: Oakland Christian

Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest at Sterling Heights Parkway Christian: Something has to give in this one. Both are 0-2and struggling to find offense. Kosmo likes the Crusaders to find their way. Kosmo Says: Lutheran Northwest Saturday

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s at Birmingham Brother Rice: The CHSL games all seem like they could be a coin flip this season. Kosmo expects another exciting finish, but the Eaglets can win with their great special teams. Kosmo Says: St. Mary’s Warren De La Salle at Detroit Catholic Central: It’s going to be a physical Boys Bowl in Novi on Saturday night. De La Salle and Catholic Central are both coming off big conference wins last weekend. One play could make all the difference in this one. Kosmo has to go with the home team. Kosmo Says: Catholic Central Detroit Loyola at Cranbrook-Kingswood: The Cranes are getting on the field for the first time and draw a Loyola team that has been playing well thus far. Kosmo Says: Loyola
