Kosmo makes his Week 4 predictions
The 2020 football season has turned the corner to the second half.
There are a lot of great stories that have developed over the first three weeks.
Teams that haven’t started 3- 0 in many years are finding themselves unbeaten.
Now iswhen the pressure is on. Can those teams handle it?
The next three weeks will show what some of these teams are really made of.
Here’s the picks for Week 4:
Friday
Clarkston at Lake Orion: Two unbeaten rivals meeting up at Lake Orion on Friday. It should be a great game and Kosmowill be watching online. Clarkston learned a lot from its OT win against West Bloomfield. It will need to find ways to make plays late against the Dragons. Lake Orion showed last week how well it can adapt, winning a tough game on short notice. It’s a toss up, but Kosmo has to go with the Clarkston front line. Kosmo Says: Clarkston Detroit Catholic Central at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s: If the CHSL has shown us anything, it’s that games are coming down to the final possession. Expect more of the same in this one. The Shamrocks have been finding ways to win, so Kosmo can’t pick against them now. Kosmo Says:
Stoney Creek at Rochester Adams: The Cougars may be saying “who cares,” but Kosmo knows its hard to ignore what a great start Stoney Creek is off to. Adams is always a game opponent, but the Cougars are playing on another level right now. Kosmo Says: Stoney Creek Royal Oak at Rochester: The Falcons are flying high with a 3-0start. Their offense has been hard to contain. Royal Oak is coming off a nice win, but Kosmo doesn’t see the Ravens being able to bottle up Rochester this week. Kosmo Says: Rochester Birmingham Sea holm at Birmingham Groves: It’s a bitter rivalry game in Birmingham. The Maples have been playing very well since losing in Week 1and Kosmo thinks that momentum continues this week. Kosmo Says: Seaholm
Oxford at West Bloomfield: The Wildcats fought their way to a solid win over Oak Park, but West Bloomfield is another step up in competition. The Lakers will be smarting after that OT loss last week and looking to make a statement. Kosmo Says: West Bloomfield
Berkley at Troy Athens: The Berkley defense has been really dominant, but a matchup with Athens may be the toughest yet for the Bears. The Red Hawks are accustomed to a close game and Kosmo thinks that will carry them to the win. Kosmo Says: Troy Athens
North Farmington at Farmington: Farmington has struggled to get out of the starting blocks and those struggles may continue in this big rivalry game. The Raiders are coming off two tough losses and eager to get back on track. Kosmo Says: North Farmington
Birmingham Brother Rice at Bloomfield Hills: The Warriors have had all three games decided by less than a touchdown. Being in those close games will help it find a way past Bloomfield Hills in the second half. Kosmo Says: Brother Rice Lakeland at Waterford Kettering: Should be another physical game for both the Eagles and the Captains. Lakeland knows how to navigate these games. Kosmo Says: Lakeland
Walled Lake Western at South Lyon:
South Lyon stubbed its toe last weekend in a loss to Mott. The Lions could be in for some trouble this week trying to slow down the Western passing attack. Kosmo Says: Walled Lake Western Southfield A&T at Oak Park: It’s pretty surprising to see both of these teams without a win at this point. Southfield A&T has played much more competitive than Oak Park, so Kosmo has to go with the Warriors. Kosmo Says: Southfield A&T
Troy at Ferndale: Both of these teams have grinded out some close victories. Ferndale has the home-field edge and Kosmo thinks that is what will be the difference. Kosmo Says: Ferndale
South Lyon East at Walled Lake Northern: This should be a close LVC contest, but Kosmo likes the weapons that East has in its passing attack. Kosmo Says: South Lyon East Waterford Mott at Walled Lake Central: Mott picked up a big win against South Lyon last week. That could be what gets the Corsairs back on track. Kosmo Says: Mott
Notre Dame Prep at Milford: The Fighting Irish couldn’t find the offense to beat top-ranked Country Day last week. Kosmo is sure the Irish have been working hard at creating offense this week against Milford. Kosmo Says: Notre Dame Prep
Auburn Hills Avondale at Pontiac: The Yellow Jackets have taken some tough losses to open the season, but this will be their week to grab that first victory. Kosmo Says: Avondale Howell at Novi: You have to like the way Novi has been fighting in every game. It led to a win last week and Kosmo thinks it will lead to a winning streak this week. Kosmo Says: Novi
Detroit Country Day at Armada:
The Yellowjackets have been dominant up front. Kosmo likes the DCD offensive and defensive lines to continue to set the tone. Kosmo Says: Country Day
Lake Fenton at Ortonville Brandon: A lot of offense is likely in this one, but Brandon has been playing that game for a lot of years now. Kosmo Says: Brandon
Madison Heights Lamphere at St. Clair Shores South Lake: It’s a matchup of two 3-0teams in the MAC Bronze. Lamphere has yet to allow a point this season and South Lake can’t say the same. Credit to the Rams. Kosmo Says: Lamphere
Macomb Lutheran North at Cranbrook-Kingswood:
The Cranes had a rough go in their season opener last weekend, but Kosmo likes Cranbrook to bounce back at home against Lutheran North. Kosmo Says: Cranbrook
Swartz Creek at Holly: Should be a good battle in Holly on Friday night. The Bronchos are giving up a few too many points for Kosmo to pick them this week. Kosmo Says: Swartz Creek Clintondale at Hazel Park: The Vikings haven’t been able to put the pieces together to pick up a win. Kosmo doesn’t see it quite happening yet. Kosmo Says: Clintondale
New Haven at Clawson: Both teams have struggled to start the 2020season. Something has to give. Kosmo will go with the home team. Kosmo Says: Clawson
Madison Heights Bishop Foley at Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett: The Venture offense will be too much for Liggett to deal with. Kosmo Says: Bishop Foley
Royal Oak Shrine at Leslie: Shrine got a week of rest and its defense should continue to be impressive as it goes on the road. Kosmo Says: Royal Oak Shrine
Livonia Clarenceville at Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest: The Crusaders haven’t found their stride on offense and the name of the game is scoring points. Kosmo Says: Clarenceville
Saturday
Auburn Hills Oakland Christian at Dearborn Advanced Tech Academy: The Lancers are garnering some statewide attention. It’s well deserved. Kosmo Says: Oakland Christian Marine City at Madison Heights Madison: Marine City has won all three games by at least 23points. Madison has just 18total points on the season. Kosmo Says: Marine City
