Kosmo makes his Week 5 predictions

-

The sounds of Friday Night Lights were back last week. Bands played. Students cheered. It was nice to feel a little sense of normally again on Friday nights.

Kosmo just wants everyone to stay diligent and safe so we can keep the Friday nights going throughout the rest of the school year.

Kosmo will be out and about this weekend with his mask on, keeping my secret identity in check.

There’s a lot of great football games lined up around Oakland County this week.

Here’s the picks for Week 5:

Friday

Birmingham Seaholm at Clarkston: The Wolves have faced a lot of physical teams already. This will be another physical battle. Seaholm has had a strong 3-week run, but Kosmo sees the Maples not being able to match up with the Clarkston front. Kosmo Says: Clarkston

Stoney Creek at Southfield A&T:

The Cougars are 4-0but this could be their toughest test yet. TheWarriors have close losses to Clarkston and West Bloomfield. If Stoney Creek wants to prove it is a contender in D1, a win this week will go a long way. Kosmo Says: Stoney Creek

Bloomfield Hills at Berkley:

The Bears found out a lot about themselves in a comeback effort last week. Kosmo thinks that will go a long way against a Bloomfield Hills team that will pose a great challenge. Kosmo Says: Berkley Ferndale at Rochester: It’s been since 1993that Rochester has been rolling like this on the football field. Ferndale is a tough opponent, but Rochester is scoring at a pace nobody has been able to compete with. Kosmo Says: Rochester

FROMPAGE 1

Madison Heights Lamphere at Clawson: The Rams have been one of the great stories in the state thus far. A 5-0start hasn’t happened since 1999. Clawson won’t make it easy, but Lamphere is just playing too well. Kosmo Says: Lamphere

Rochester Adams at West Bloomfield:

The Lakers looked like the

West Bloomfield team we expected to see this year in a win over Oxford. Can they show that same intensity against a game Adams squad? Kosmo Says: West Bloomfield

Farmington at Lake Orion: The Dragons have to be motivated following the loss to Clarkston last week. Expect them to be breathing fire and looking to run the ball right at Farmington. Kosmo Says: Lake Orion

North Farmington at Oxford:

This should be a great and physical football game. Both teams are 2-2 and battle-tested. When it seems this close, Kosmo has to go with the home team. Kosmo Says: Oxford Birmingham Groves at

Oak Park: The Knights just haven’t been able to figure things out this season. Groves isn’t a team that the Knights can afford to make mistakes against. Kosmo Says: Groves

Waterford Kettering at South Lyon East: Two hard-nosed football teams in the LVC are set to collide. Kettering hasn’t made it easy on anyone, but the Cougars have the big-play ability that should put them over the top. Kosmo Says: South Lyon East

Walled Lake Northern at Walled LakeWestern: The Warriors continue to show they are the team to beat in the Lakes Valley Conference right now. Kosmo Says: Walled Lake Western

Walled Lake Central at Lakeland:

The Eagles are too poised and playing too well to have a setback this week. Kosmo Says: Lakeland

Milford at South Lyon:

Back-to-back losses has South Lyon reeling, but the Lions are a proud program that will find a way to get back on track. Kosmo Says: South Lyon

RoyalOak at Auburn Hills Avondale: A pair of 1-3 teams looking to create some momentum. Kosmo likes Avondale at home in this one. Kosmo Says: Avondale

Madison Heights Madison at Hazel Park: Both teams have yet to grab a win this season, but Hazel Park has had the more consistent offense. Kosmo Says: Hazel Park

Pontiac at Troy: The Colts can rely on their two wins to open the season to help them get back on track this weekend. Kosmo Says: Troy Detroit U-D Jesuit at Detroit Catholic Central: It’s been a wild couple of days for these two programs as they pieced this game together. Catholic Central has found ways to win this season and it will do the same in this adverse situation. Kosmo Says: Catholic Central

Lapeer at Birmingham Brother Rice: Brother Rice has a lot of momentum right now and theWarriors won’t be intimidated by any opponent. Kosmo thinks the CHSL schedule has Rice prepared for another win. Kosmo Says: Brother Rice Clio at Ortonville Brandon: The Blackhawks are locked and loaded for another offensive showcase. Clio won’t be able to keep up. Kosmo Says: Brandon

Novi at Northville: Expect the Wildcats to keep this one close throughout, but Kosmo likes Northville to come away with a tough victory. Kosmo Says: Northville

Cranbrook-Kingswood at Dearborn Divine Child:

Something has to give in this one, as both teams are looking for their first win. The Cranes got off to a late start, but could find their footing this week. Kosmo Says: Cranbrook

Linden at Holly: The Bron

chos have been more competitive in recent weeks, but the lack of offense will be a problem in this one. Kosmo Says: Linden

Madison Heights Bishop Foley at Riverview Gabriel Richard: This should be a classic between a pair of undefeated teams. The Ventures had last week to rest up and should be excited to get back to action. Kosmo likes Foley’s offense to push past Gabriel Richard. Kosmo Says: Bishop Foley

Auburn Hills Oakland Christian at Livonia Clarenceville: The Lancers have been locked in and aren’t going to take a step back this week. Kosmo Says: Oakland Christian Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest at Whitmore Lake: Lutheran Northwest had an offensive explosion last week. Can the Crusaders find a way to win when the offense isn’t quite as potent this week? Kosmo Says: Whitmore Lake Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes at Allen Park Cabrini: The Lakers haven’t been on the field in a few weeks and are still working in a new system. It’s hard to learn without live snaps. Kosmo Says: Cabrini

Saturday

Clarkston Everest Collegiate at RoyalOak Shrine: Two of the top teams in Division 8meet up on Saturday at Shrine. This game could go either way, but Everest was able to grab the win last season and Kosmo just likes something about the Mountaineers. Kosmo Says: Everest Collegiate

Paw Paw at Detroit Country Day: It’s been tough for the Yellowjackets to get on the field this season. They are making themost out of it when they do. Kosmo Says: Country Day

Pontiac Notre Dame Prep at Flint Beecher:

This should be a great game. Both teams have big postseason aspirations, but ND Prep has a hard-nosed defense that is going to turn the game in its favor. Kosmo Says: Notre Dame
