Barley Corn Public House among three new restaurants being added to Vicari family business
Just when it seemed more restaurants were closing than opening Joe Vicari Restaurant Group has announced three new eateries will add to the dining experiences inthe suburbs ofDetroit
The Hill Seafood and ChopHouse inGrossePointe Farms, Triple Nickle in BirminghamandBuc’eez Pub in Macomb Township will become independent brands under management by the Vicari Family, the company announced in a release Wednesday.
“We are thrilled to be adding these restaurants to our growing restaurant group,” said Joe Vicari, president of the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group (JVRG).
TheMichigan owned and operated family business has been around for more than 30years andisknown for its successful Andiamo and Joe Muer Seafood eateries.
The new additions will bring the total number of restaurants under the ownership of JVRG to 25, having closed three other locations in Royal Oak, Sterling Heights and Clarkston in previous years, and add at least 150 new jobs to the region.
The Hill Seafood and Chop House will be a copartnership with JVRG and Anthony Soave from Soave Enterprises, with JVRGrunning the day to day operations of the restaurant. This co-partnership became official in September and is currently open under this new ownership group.
Kaylnn Azar, who has beenwith the JVRGfor over five yearsworking at Brownies on the Lake during the summer months and Andiamo Warren and Bloomfield Township during the fall and winter months, will be the new general manager. Chef Bryan Hartway, who has been head chef for JoeMuer SeafoodBloomfield Hills, will now be head chef for The Hill Seafood and Chop House. The menu will have many of The Hill Seafood & ChopHouse favorites customers have grown to love, and shortly a few new menu items will be added.
The Triple Nickle in Birminghamwas also acquired in September and will soon become The Birmingham Pub
The restaurant is currently closed and under renovation with an anticipated opening in late November.
The restaurant will feature a diverse menu of American comfort foods served in a festive and casual experience. Blendi Suvaria, who has been part of the JVRG for over 15 years working at the Country Inn and as general manager of Andiamo SterlingHeights, will now be the general manager for the Birmingham Pub. The new executive chef will be Mike Yott, who has also been part of the JVRG family for over 10 years serving as chef for AndiamoWarren and Andiamo Sterling Heights.
Also opening in November will be a new restaurant for Macomb County families. Buc’eez Pub inMacomb Township, also acquired by the JVRG inSeptember, will soon be reopened as Barley Corn Public House.
Matt Bates will be an operating partner and general manager of the restaurant currently closed for renovations. Bates began his career with the JVRG in 2006 and has been involved inmanaging several of their restaurants including, Andiamo and Brownies on the Lake. Patrick Bua, who has been part of the JVRG for over 6 yearswhileworking at Andiamo Warren in various positions including sous chef and executive chef, will be
come thehead chef at Barley Corn Public House. A brand new menu planned for the restaurant will feature a wide variety of favorite bar foods along with gourmet entrees, and an amazing array of drinks from a beautiful backlit bar.
The announcement of the new locations in southeastern Michigan follow JVRG’s recent announcement regarding the construction of The Statler Bistro in Detroit. Named after the historic hotel of the same name, The Statler will be an upscale bistro featuring a quaint atmosphere for 175 patrons. The décor will have a European flair coupled with relaxing indoor and outdoor seating. The large outdoor patio will provide views of the city while enjoying the overall ambiance of bistro andamenuofAmericanand French cuisine.
The StatlerBistro will also feature a market where customers can purchase groceries and packaged meals that
customers can take home and enjoy. This will be an entirely new concept for the JoeVicariRestaurantGroup.
The planned opening for The Staler Bistro, at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Park Avenue is January of 2021. The new bistro faces Grand Circus Park, which was the former location of the 18-floor, 800-room Statler Hotel.
“Each property has been a local favorite for each community they serve, and they fit really well into our plans for offering a great local gathering place with a unique atmosphere and exceptional food choices for our guests,” Vicari said.
The Hill Seafood & Chophouse is located at 123 Kercheval Ave in Grosse Pointe Farms; Birmingham Pub is at 555 S. Old Woodward, Suite 100, in Birmingham and the Barley Corn Public House is at 50985 Hayes Road in Macomb Township.
