The Urban League of Detroit and Southeastern Michigan hosts its virtual Legacy Breakfast event at 8 a.m. today.

Attendees will hear first-hand from individuals whose lives have been changed as a result of the organization’s services and learn more about its history and current programs.

“This virtual Legacy Breakfast is a very new way of doing things for us, but the Coronavirus pandemic has caused all of us to do things a little different”, said President and CEO N. Charles Anderson. “We are looking forward to this wonderful opportunity to greet our guests and share a brief review of the work we do and the people we serve. All are invited to participate.”

The Urban League of Detroit and Southeastern Michigan serves thousands of families each year for more than 100 years – working to empower all individuals who are targets of injustice or inequality.

The organization has responded to the changing needs of the metro Detroit community through programs assisting with employment counseling and placement; women, infant, and children health and nutrition; youth academic and life-skills training; and the improvement of the socioeconomic conditions of the disadvantaged in the community.

Donations to the League help them continue providing supplemental food, professional nutrition education, job fairs, post-secondary education opportunities and more to local minority communities.
