Rochester Hills Mayor Barnett accepts Beautification Award on behalf of city
The city of Rochester Hills was awarded the Rochester Garden Club’s annual Beautification Award for its landscaping of the two traffic circles on Tienken Road – one by Stony Creek High School and the other at Washington and Runyon Roads.
Mayor Bryan Barnett accepted the recognition on behalf of the city and the people who designed and built these traffic circles.
“Each circle is designed to represent its location in the city,” said Barnett. “The one by Van Hoosen Farms, for example, has a nod to the historic nature of the area.”
The city will be building two more traffic circles – one by the Yates Cider Mill along Dequindre Road, which will have an apple theme, and the other by the Clinton River, which will have an aquatic theme.
Eleven other locations throughout the area received letters of commendation for their landscaping efforts, including homeowner associations, restaurants and businesses.
