Cancellati­ons announced due to ongoing safety issues

The following activities are canceled due to ongoing safety issues with COVID-19 and to follow Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s new emergency order to help curb the COVID-19 surge, effective Nov. 18 through Dec. 8.

• The Holly Dickens Festival in Holly has been canceled this year due to the pandemic, with plans to resume during the 2021 holidays. For more informatio­n, visit hollydicke­nsfestival.org.

• The in- person Holiday Lights Ceremony at Farmington Hills City Hall scheduled for Dec. 1 is canceled. A virtual event, including Santa’s arrival and the lighting of the City Hall campus, will be posted across city social media channels in the first week of December, according to a press release. The Costick Center front desk will remain open 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and until 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. The Farmington Hills Ice Arena is closed, and Recreation/Aquatics/Cultural Arts/ Nature Center programs have been canceled or postponed.

• The Novi Civic Center will remain open, but visitors are asked to call to see if their issue can be handled online or over the phone. If not, staff will schedule an appointmen­t. Visit cityofnovi.org for more informatio­n. Novi Parks is pausing all leagues, classes and facility reservatio­ns until Dec. 8. The Novi Public Library will be shifting back to lobby, locker pick-up and drive-up services, through Dec. 13, with no access to browsing the collection­s or computers. The Library Café will remain open.

• The Brandon Township Public Library switched to appointmen­tonly services, effective Nov. 16, in response to rising COVID-19 cases, according to the library’s Facebook page, facebook. com/ BrandonLib­rary. Library hours remain the same, materials may be ordered through curbside pickup, (248) 627-1460, email ( libservice­s@brandonlib­rary. org), or text (248.600.5988). • The Christmas in the Village parade and tree lighting set for Dec 5 in downtown Ortonville, has been canceled due to the new COVID-19 restrictio­ns, according to the downtown Ortonville Facebook page at facebook.com/ortonville­mi.

• The Rochester Hills City Hall and the Rochester Hills Department of Public Services Building are closed to the public, except by appointmen­t, Nov. 18-Jan. 3, due to the new emergency order, according to a press release. Residents are encouraged to conduct city business online at www.rochesterh­ills. org, via phone at 248- 6564664 or through the city’s drop box in front of City Hall. The Rochester Hills Museum on Van Hoosen Farm will be closed to the public. All indoor parks and museum classes and programs are canceled or postponed effective Nov. 18-Dec. 8. Outdoor events and programs are still occurring as allowed. All city parks will also remain open to the public during this time. City council meetings will continue as scheduled, with resident access at www.youtube.com/rochesterh­illstv or via RHTV.

• Following the public health order limiting outdoor gatherings through Dec. 8, Meadow Brook Hall announced new dates for its Winter Wonder Lights. The holiday light show will now run Dec. 11-Dec.

• City of Southfield offices and facilities will be closed to the public Nov. 19 until at least Dec. 9, according to a press release. City Hall will continue operating during minimum core hours Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Residents may conduct most city business online at www.cityofsout­hfield.com and through the main drop box 24/7 as well as via phone, (248) 7964620. Parks & Recreation Department programs and special events are postponed or canceled through Dec. 10, including the Southfield Tree Lighting Ceremony scheduled for Dec. 4. The TOSS ( Transporta­tion of Southfield Seniors) program will continue with appointmen­ts made at least 48 hours in advance, (248) 796- 4658. Patrons can access Southfield Public Library’s ebooks and magazines, audiobooks, movies, music, children’s resources, and research tools and more 24/ 7 with their library card at www.southfield­library.org. Contactles­s service will also continue at the drive- up window to pick up library materials, (248) 796- 4200.

• Horizon Bank announced the lobbies of all Horizon Bank locations throughout Indiana and Michigan will be open by appointmen­t only, effective Nov. 16. The Troy branch is at 2555 Crooks Road. The bank’s drive up, ATM and Live Video Banking facilities will remain open and hours of operation will remain unchanged at this time, according to a press release. • AutoPets and PetPeople have postponed a cat adoption event and donation drive benefiting the Michigan Animal Rescue League, according to a press release.
