An Oakland County man who contacted police after reportedly being robbed and hit by a car ended up in the Oakland County Jail for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, officials said. The alleged thieves are still at-large.

The incident unfolded shortly after 5 p.m. on Nov. 17 in the parking lot of the Arby’s restaurant, 57145 Lyon Center Drive in Lyon Township, where Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics from Huron Valley Ambulance were called on the report of a robbery. According to the sheriff’s office, the caller, a 31-year-old Highland Township man, said he had arranged to meet someone to buy several iPhones, which he had planned through the “Offer Up” app. He said one of the suspects grabbed $3,000 from him and ran, dropping a bag of cell phones in the process. He also said he was hit by the suspects’ vehicle as it fled the scene. Deputies discovered the Highland Township man had a concealed weapon but no valid permit to do so, leading to his arrest. Paramedics cleared him for jail, the sheriff’s office said. The suspects were described as two black males. Their vehicle was a silver-colored Nissan with Ohio license plates. The incident is under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
