The over 7,500 new cases due to coronavirus reported in Michigan on Saturday marked the 13th straight day the state has seen more than 5,000 new virus cases, according to the state’s website.

With 7,528 new cases and 101 new deaths due to the virus reported, this also marks the 25th straight day — not including Sundays when numbers are not reported — the state added more than 3,000 new cases.

This brings Michigan over the milestone of 300,000 cases, with 302,705 confirmed cases, and 8,478 confirmed deaths.

Combined with 26,316 probable cases and 397 probable deaths, the state stands at 329,021 total cases and 8,875 total deaths.

While October previously had the highest totals seen since springtime, November already tops October’s totals by over 71,000 cases.

And, with totals unseen since May, discounting Sundays, Saturday was the 15th consecutive day to report more than 40 new deaths, meaning November has also consistently seen high death totals.

Other days reporting more than 100 cases in November include Friday, Nov. 13 with 118 new deaths and Thursday, Nov. 19 with 134 new deaths.

There were four instances in May which recorded high totals:

• Tuesday, May 19, 102 new deaths

• Thursday, May 21, 69 new deaths

• Saturday, May 23, 65 new deaths

• Wednesday, May 27, 68 deaths

At least 59 of the 101 new confirmed deaths on Saturday were identified during a vital records review, which are conducted regularly by the state.

Overall, this means November continues to record a surge in cases and deaths, with record high totals unseen since springtime at the start of the pandemic.
