Eagle Scouts work to improve local nature preserves
Eagle Scouts Dylan Blackmer, Kaleb Price and Drew Collins of Rochester Hills were recognized at an Eagle Court of Honor held by Troop 125 at Rochester Community House.
Blackmer is a 2020 graduate from Rochester Adams High School and is currently enrolled at the University of Michigan as an Air Force ROTC Cadet studying Computer Science in the College of Engineering. His Eagle project benefitted his local community park where he raised funds and built a little library for his neighbors to enjoy. The project required 57 service hours from Blackmer and his volunteers.
Price is a senior at Rochester Adams High School and plans to study biomedical engineering at either the University of Michigan or Purdue University. His project benefited Hawk Woods Nature Preserve in Auburn Hills. With the help of volunteers, Price raised funds and rebuilt a 60foot boardwalk section which had been submerged. The project required 240 service hours.
Collins is a 2020 graduate from Roche st er Adams High School and is currently enrolled at the University of Michigan, jointly majoring in economics and business. His project benefited Dinosaur Hi l l Nature Preserve. With the help of volunteers, he raised funds to purchase materials and created insulated beehive covers for to increase circulation, reduce precipitation build-up and ultimately increase bee colony survival. The project required 152 service hours.
