Search is on for families in need at Christmastime
Business owner, others team up to provide food, gifts
A Walled Lake business owner is teaming up with Walled Lake Mayor Linda Ackley and five vendors f rom the mar ijuana industry to find 10 families in need this Christmas season.
Jerry Millen, owner of the Greenhouse marijuana store, is collaborating with the others to donate more than $10,000 in food and gifts to help make Christmas merry this year. Selected for the promotion will be three families from Walled Lake as well as seven others from metro Detroit.
Recipients will be chosen based on short descriptions about the family and specifics of their situation, which must be submitted by this Friday, Dec. 4. For Walled Lake residents, submit the information to Ackley at walledlakechristmas@gmail.com. For nonWalled Lake families, fill

Winners will be announced Dec. 7. Gifts and food will be distributed to the families the week of Dec. 14.
Walled Lake families will be chosen by Ackley and Walled Lake city council members, who will shop for and wrap the gifts.
Vendors participating in the promotion include Green DR CBD, Kushy Punch, Chill Medicated,
Platinum Vape and U Bake.
“I’m so proud to be bringing joy into the lives of Michigan residents who are facing difficult times,” Millen stated in a news release. “The smiling faces of small children are priceless. Joining forces with cannabis industry heavyweights to raise the necessary money is an honor but I am challenging others, inside and outside of the cannabis industry, to do their part as well.”
