All are invited to the firstever public menorah lighting in Troy.

The stay-in-your-car event will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13 at 1870 Technological Drive, in the Troy Technological Park in the area of John R and Maple roads.

The menorah is a symbol of the eight-day Jewish holiday of Chanukah, which begins the evening of Thursday, Dec. 10.

The lighting of the 12-foot menorah will be accompanied by a fire show, live music and Chanukah packages with treats for every car.

The free event is sponsored by the Chabad Jewish Center of Troy.

“It is a celebration for the holiday of Chanukah that has a universal message for every single person,” said Rabbi Menachem Caytak of Chabad Jewish Center.

“It is the message of how light, and goodness and kindness can overcome even the thickest darkness. It is the message how every single person can be a beacon of light even when the surroundings around them are dark.”

Reservations are required; send an email to jewishtroy. com/chanukah.
