Waterford police are investigating the shooting of two dogs, a labrador and a pomeranian, in their owners’ backyard that happened Dec. 7.

Lt. Scott Good couldn’t provide updated information on the dogs’ condition, but said the shooting happened shortly before 8 p.m. in the 5000 block of Clinton River Drive, near Crescent Lake and Pontiac Lake roads.

A 9mm gun was used, he said.

The motive for the shooting is currently unknown, he said. According to social media posts, one dog was shot twice and the other once, and were in a gated yard at the time. As the investigation continues, anyone with information about it, including home video surveillance footage, is asked to contact Det. Greg Allen at 248-618-6068.
