Alert neighbor tips police to suspected car burglar

Police caught a suspected car burglar after a neighbor in the 1600 block of Ferris called them early Dec. 7.

The neighbor saw the man, 40, of Chicago, rummaging through unlocked vehicles and called 911.

The man was driving a car stolen in Detroit. Police caught up with him nearby and found he had a number of items stolen from unlocked cars.

Items police found in the car included everything from identification and credit cards to loose change and prescription pills.

Police have already returned some of the stolen goods to their owners in the 1400 block of North Altadena and the 3600 block of Linwood.
