Holly man facing charges in toddler’s death
Michigan State Police report that a 29-year-old Holly man is charged with two felonies in connection with the Dec.19 death of a 3-year-old girl in northern Oakland County. Samual Lester Smart is facing one count each of torture and first-degree child abuse. He was arraigned Dec. 22 in Clarkston’s 52-2 District Court. The Detroit News is identifying the girl as Trinity Chandler, who lived with her mother and Smart in a mobile home in Groveland Township. Smart is held in the Oakland County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 4.
