Car crashes into laundry business

One person was seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash ended with one car crashing into a business.

A northbound 2018 Chevrolet Trax turned left on Dixie Highway and was struck by a southbound 2019 Chevrolet Malibu at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, in Independence Township, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reported.

After striking the Trax, the Malibu crashed through the front of the EZ Duz-It Laundry at 6507 Dixie Highway.

The Trax was driven by a 68-year-old Clarkston man, and he was taken by Independence Township firefighters to St. Joseph Mercy- Oakland, where he was listed in stable condition. The Malibu was driven by a 74-yearold Springfield Township woman, and she was taken by paramedics to McLaren Oakland Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition.

The crash remains under investigation, but the sheriff’s office said that alcohol does not appear involved. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

No one in the laundry was hurt.
