BOWIE BASH

Two virtual events celebrate the late megastar’s birthday

- — Gary Graff

David Bowie would have turned 74 on Friday, Jan. 8, so let’s dance — or at least watch, from home.

A pair of virtual parties are planned to commemorate both the iconic rocker’s birthday and the fifth anniversary of his death — on Jan. 10, 2016, from liver cancer at the age of 69, the same week as the release of his final album, “Blackstar.”

Mike Garson, Bowie’s frequent keyboardist since 1973, hosts “A Bowie Celebration ... just for one day,” streaming at 9 p.m. Friday. The concert features more than three dozen alumni as well as longtime Bowie producer Tony Visconti, joined by a corps of guests that includes nine inch nails’ Trent Reznor, Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, Mott the Hoople’s Ian Hunter, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott, Bush’s Gavin Rossdale, Adam Lambert, Lzzy Hale, Perry Farrell, Academy Award-winner Gary Oldman, Macy Gray, Duran Duran and others. Tickets start at $25 via rollinglivestudios. com/bowie, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Save the Children Fund.

Meanwhile, the London stage production of the Bowie musical “Lazarus” — starring Michael C. Hall and the original New York cast — streams Friday through Sunday, Jan. 10. Tickets start at $21.50 via dice.fm.
