Credit union awards grants to small businesses

Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union granted more than $18,500 to local small businesses as part of their Give the Gift of Local giveaway.

“More than 2,000 nomination­s from members and team members show just how much love is out there for small businesses in metro Detroit,” said Ann Jones, vice president of marketing and business developmen­t. “It is heartwarmi­ng to know that so many of us are making small businesses part of our holiday shopping plans this year.”

The following Oakland County based businesses were selected by the Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union:

• Mexico Lindo, 6225 Highland Road, Waterford.

• Parrot Cove, 33475 Dequindre Road, Troy.

• Rouge Makeup and Nail Studio, 23337 Woodward Ave, Ferndale.

• Sunflour Bakehaus, 33250

Grand River Ave, Farmington.

• Trail’s Edge Café, 49348 Pontiac Trail, Wixom.

• Val’s Polish Kitchen, 224 E Auburn Road, Rochester Hills.

• Vegan Mommy Vending, based in Southfield.
