Friends of Rochester Hills Public Library mark 60 years with 60-40 raffle

- — Submitted by John Smyntek

The Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library is marking its 60th anniversary this year.

To celebrate, the volunteer support arm of the library, which serves Rochester Hills, Rochester and Oakland Township, has launched its first-ever 6040 raffle. The Friends hope the proceeds will make up for the fundraising events canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Without the current ability to plan exactly when and what we’ll be able to do in 2021, we needed to do something now,” said Friends President

Ron Meegan.

Tickets for the raffle are $100 each, and one winner will get 40 percent of the pot. The drawing will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 20.

To purchase tickets, visit rhpl.org/connect/ visit-the-friends-of-rhpl or call 248-650-7176 and leave a message. Participants will be mailed an entry confirmation.

“I am so thankful for the Friends group’s continued support and ingenuity during this difficult time. This raffle will try to help make sure that the Friends’ important financial helping-hand will continue despite whatever 2021 brings,” said Rochester Hills Public Library Director Juliane Morian.

Rochester Hills Public Library is located at 500 Olde Towne Road, Rochester. As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, the library has stepped back to phase four of its reopening plan, offering a drivethru window to pick up held items and only opening the entrance/lobby for express pickup and return.
