School district to begin taking Schools of Choice applications
Farmington Public Schools will accept Schools of Choice applications from Oakland County residents from March 1-19.
The district has openings in kindergarten through eighth gradefor the 2021-2022 school year.
Farmington Public Schools will place intradistrict transfer students and nonresident employees’ students first. Remaining spaces, not to exceed 2021-2022 staffing levels/ratios, will then be opened up.
Twenty seats are available at each level, kindergarten through eighth grade. No seats are available at the high school level.
“In order to support the district’s goal of excellence and equity for all students, the granting of choice is balanced with the need to provide an equitable and appropriate enrollment in all of our schools,” the district said in a release.
Final placement will be determined based on current enrollment, projected enrollment, 20212022 staffing levels/ratios, and the number of applications received for each school/level.
If the number of applications received for a given school/level exceeds the number of available openings, a private lottery will be held April 12. Families will be notified via email of placements by May 14.
Online applications will be available beginning March 1 on the Farmington Public Schools’ website,www.farmington. k12.mi.us.
Those without internet access who wish to apply may contact Khristian Alexander at 248-426-4692 to make an appointment.
