Spring is only a few weeks away – and Ferndale Area District Library is ready for the sun to come out.

In preparation for gardening season, the library is kicking off “The More You Grow” web series. There will be monthly virtual presentations about growing and cultivating all varieties of plants.

Ferndale resident Ross Sandelius will lead the presentations and will facilitate Q&A and discussion after each session. His first session “Soil In The Garden” kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 via Zoom.

Sandelius will talk about how, in order to achieve healthy green leaves and blossoms, gardeners first need to understand what’s going on underground. Attendees will learn about the nitrogen-rich anchorage-system for plants’ roots.

Sandelius has been an active participant of an online community of gardeners residing in the Ferndale and Pleasant Ridge areas, and he is currently working towards his Master Gardener certification.

Anyone interested in attending the first installment of these monthly meetings can sign-up online at http://tiny.cc/fadlgarden. Each proceeding presentation will be hosted on the last Tuesday of each month.
