Oxford gets rivalry win over Lake Orion

A recap of high school sporting events reported to The Oakland Press on Wednesday night:

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Oxford 51, Lake Orion 39

The Oxford girls basketball team picked up a 5139 win over Lake Orion on Wednesday to improve to 6-3 on the season.

Miranda Wyniemko had 16 points to lead the Wildacts, while Emma Morris had 15.

Kylie Heck had 20 points to lead the Dragons.

Stoney Creek 34, North Farmington 28

The Stoney Creek girls basketball team improved to 8-1 on the season Wednesday night thanks to a 34-28 win over North Farmington.

Mia Carson had 11 points to lead the Cougars in the win, while Sydney Laprairie had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Heaven Rogers had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead North Farmington, while Sela Lefler had seven points.

Berkley 50, Avondale 37

The Berkley Bears moved to 6-3 on the season thanks to a 50-37 win over Auburn Hills Avondale on Wednesday.

Ashley Loon had 18 points to lead the Bears in the victory, while Ryleigh Sanom had 13 and Ava Beard scored 10.

Troy Athens 46, Seaholm 28

Troy Athens earned a 46-28 win over Birmingham Seaholm on Wednesday night.

Gillian Ciak had 13 points, eight rebounds and seven steals to lead the Red Hawks. Clara Shoales added 10 points, four rebounds and four steals.

Royal Oak 51, Southfield A&T 40

Royal Oak picked up an OAA Red win on Wednesday, besting Southfield A&T 51-40.

Kira Vance had 11 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Ravens (5-4) in the win, while Lexi Romesburg had 14 points.

Mercy 55, Monroe 27

Farmington Hills Mercy moved to 6-3 on the season on Wednesday with a win over Monroe.

Ellie Tisko had 15 points to lead the Marlins, while Alexis Roberts scored 12 and Mary Shah had 10.

Clawson 50, Woods Tower 23

The Clawson girls basketball team used a 28-point first quarter to get past Warren Woods Tower on Wednesday, 5023.

Renata Carlesimo had 19 points to lead the Trojans in the win, while Abbey Lodato had 17 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Cardinal Mooney 44, Shrine 41

Royal Oak Shrine was edged by Marine City Cardinal Mooney on Wednesday night, 44-41.

Stephen Ruhle had 13 points to lead the Knights, while Aaron Smith had 12.

Stoney Creek 3, Eisenhower 2

The Stoney Creek hockey team edged Utica Eisenhower on Wednesday, 3-2.

Eric Boothe, Bobby Dessy and Sutton Murray each scored in the win for the Cougars.
