The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is seeking two suspects in connection with an assault and attempted robbery that happened early Sunday in Pontiac.

Deputies wrapping up an unrelated incident were approached by the victim, a 44-year-old Pontiac man, shortly before 2 a.m. in the North Hill Farms apartment complex, the sheriff’s office said, telling them he had been assaulted by two armed men who tried to steal his money.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim said he was in an apartment in the 70 block of Fireside Lane, holding his money, when one suspect punched him in the face multiple times, attempting to get the cash. The other suspect held him down during the assault. The first assailant also attempted to stab him multiple times but didn’t make contact with the knife, the two assailants left, the victim said.

While deputies were on the scene, the victim pointed out one of the suspects driving by, the sheriff’s office said. A traffic stop was initiated, but the suspect sped away, lost control of the vehicle which then rolled over in a ditch before the suspect fled on foot.

Deputies were unable to locate the suspects but determined the vehicle had been reported stolen in Detroit. An investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.

One suspect is described as a black man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, early-to-mid 30s, who’s known as “White” or “Dwight.” He was wearing a blue button-up shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident. The other suspect is described as a white man in his mid 20s, known as “Mike,” the sheriff’s office said.
