Under Sail
The Fools’ Rules Regatta challenges sailors in a unique way
Sailors struggle to keep their vessels afloat as they compete in the Jamestown Yacht Club’s Fools’ Rules Regatta in Jamestown, Rhode Island, this past August. Each sail-powered “vessel” must be built on the beach in two hours with non-marine items (no boat parts or sails) and crews must keep them from sinking or disintegrating over the 500-yard course. Awards include “Best Theme or Costume,” “Most Ingenious Design” and the most coveted of all— “Worst Example of Naval Architecture.”
