Texas St. wins shootout with Arkansas St.

Texas State quarterbac­k Brady McBride threw for 443 yards and five touchdowns as the Bobcats snapped a seven-game losing streak, beating Arkansas State 47-45 on Saturday at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos.

Texas State (2-9, 2-5 Sun Belt) trailed by 11 early in the fourth quarter before pulling ahead with 14 unanswered points.

State (3-6, 1-5) back in front 45-41 on a 1-yard touchdown run with less than 2 minutes to play.

Jeremiah Haydel helped give Texas State a shorter field to work with returning the ensuing kickoff 41 yards to the Texas State 43-yard line. Texas State drove 57 yards in just more than a minute, capped by a 7-yard touchdown run from Calvin Hill with 34 seconds remaining.

McBride finished 32-of-45 passing and did not throw an intercepti­on. Trevis Graham Jr. hauled in two touchdowns, while Marcell Barbee, Jeremiah Haydel and Javen Banks each caught one.

Arkansas State racked up 654 yards of total offense compared to 505 for Texas State. Logan Bonner and Layne Hatcher combined to throw for 462 yards and four touchdowns for the Red Wolves in a game that saw a total of six lead changes.

The win was the first for the Bobcats since Sept. 19.

McBride threw a 14-yard scoring pass to Trevis Graham Jr. to put Texas State ahead 24-10 with 9:56 left before halftime.

Arkansas State rallied with four touchdowns — a pair before halftime — and led 38-27 with 13:50 left in the game.

But McBride led the Texas State comeback, throwing a 5-yard scoring pass to Marcell Barbee a little more than two minutes later. He connected with Graham again, this time on

a 15-yard scoring pass, and the Bobcats led 41-38.

Spencer Rattler passed for 301 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score in Norman, Okla., to help Oklahoma beat Oklahoma State to boost its hopes of winning a sixth straight Big 12 championsh­ip.

Rhamondre Stevenson ran for a career-high 141 yards, and

Theo Wease caught two touchdown passes for the Sooners in their straight victory. Oklahoma (6-2, 5-2) won its sixth straight in the series and extended its November winning streak to 23 dating to 2014.

Oklahoma State running back

Chuba Hubbard was held to 44 yards on eight carries, and the Cowboys (5-2, 4-2) gained just 246 total yards.

NO. 17 IOWA ST. 45, KANSAS ST. 0

Brock Purdy passed for 236 yards and three touchdowns and Iowa State extended a historic start in Big 12 play, beating the Wildcats in Ames, Iowa.

The Cyclones (6-2) cruised to their most-lopsided win over Kansas State in 77 years. They remain in first place in the Big 12 after improving to 6-1 in the conference and matching the school record for league wins.

Iowa State hadn’t had such a wide winning margin against the Wildcats since beating them 48-0 in 1943. It was the Cyclones’

biggest win over a Big 12 opponent since routing Kansas 45-0 three years ago.

Kansas State (4-4, 4-3), which won 11 of the previous 12 meetings, started to unravel after failing to score on an early firstand-goal from the 3.

Iowa State, which outgained the Wildcats 539-149, now turns its attention to a key game at

No. 22 Texas on Friday.

“The next six days are going to challenge everything we’re about,” Campbell said. “This is a hard, tough sport. So getting a short week isn’t easy.”

NORTH TEXAS 27, RICE 17

Jason Bean accounted for two touchdowns to lead North Texas to a 27-17 victory against Rice in Denton.

Bean broke loose for a 66yard touchdown run and tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jaelon Darden in the second quarter to give the Mean Green a 14-10 halftime lead. DeAndre Torrey had 102 yards rushing on 19 carries, and his 1-yard TD run capped the scoring for North Texas (3-3, 2-2 Conference USA) midway through the fourth quarter.

Bean was 9-of-20 passing for 120 yards and added 94 yards rushing. Ethan Mooney made field goals from 27 and 30 yards for North Texas.

Mike Collins was 23 of 34 for 327 yards passing with two touchdowns for Rice (1-2, 1-2).

MEMPHIS 56, SFA 14

Brady White became the all-time passing touchdown leader for host Memphis (5-2). The Lumberjack­s (6-4) scored on Trae Self’s 7-yard pass to Xavier Gipson in the final minute of the half to get within 20-14. The Lumberjack­s were outgained 574-224.
