Jackson, Oklahoma St. topple Texas Tech

STILLWATER, Okla. — Dezmon Jackson rushed for career highs of 235 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 23 Oklahoma State bounced back from a disappoint­ing loss to rival Oklahoma to beat Texas Tech 50-44 on Saturday.

Jackson had 36 carries in part because the top two backs, Chuba Hubbard and LD Brown, did not play. The Cowboys still ran for a season-high 317 yards.

Spencer Sanders passed for 222 yards and ran for 78, and TylanWalla­ce caught seven passes for 129 yards and a score for Oklahoma State (6-2, 5-2 Big 12).

Alan Bowman passed for 384 yards and three touchdowns,

Erik Ezukanma caught seven passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns, and SaRodorick Thompson ran for 133 yards and two scores for Texas Tech. The Red Raiders (3-6, 2-6) gained 639 yards, but Oklahoma State made up for it with a safety, an onside kick return for a touchdown, and an intercepti­on return.

EAST CAROLINA 52, SMU 38

Holton Ahlers threw for four first-half touchdowns and East Carolina held off visting SMU’s second-half rally.

ECU (3-6, 3-5 American) scored a touchdown on its first six possession­s of the game, and closed the half with a short field goal for a 45-7 lead.

SMU (7-3, 4-3) battled back in the second half with four touchdowns. Shane Buechele scored on a QB sneak and later connected with Ulysses Bentley IV as the Mustangs scored 17 unanswered points in the third quarter.

NO. 20 COASTAL CAROLINA 49 TEXAS ST. 14

C.J. Marable ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns and Coastal Carolina wrapped up the Sun Belt Conference East Division title with a road victory over Texas State.

The Chanticlee­rs (9-0, 7-0) had 572 yards of offense in extending their winning streak to 10 games. They moved up to the Football Bowl Subdivisio­n three seasons ago.

Texas State (2-10, 2-6) closed its sixth straight losing season. It was the second-most points the

Bobcats have allowed in regulation this season.

Coastal took command early at Bobcat Stadium, scoring touchdowns on its first two possession­s route to a 35-7 lead at the half.

Texas State’s lone touchdown in the first half came on a 14-yard pass from Brady McBride to Javen Banks.

BAYLOR 32, KANSAS ST. 31

John Mayers kicked a 30-yard field goal on the final play of the game and Baylor beat Kansas State at home, ending the Bears’ five-game losing streak.

Charlie Brewer completed 31 of 39 passes for 349 yards and two touchdowns.

Kansas State (4-5, 4-4 Big 12) has lost four in a row since starting

4-0 in conference play.

TCU 59, KANSAS 23

Max Duggan threw for touchdowns on his only three completion­s while running 58 yards for another score, TCU ran for 337 yards in all, and the Horned Frogs bludgeoned their way to a road victory despite coach Gary Patterson estimating his team was “missing close to 40 guys” due to COVID-19 tests, contact tracing and minor injuries.

UTEP AT RICE CANCELED

Saturday’s C-USA contest was called off right after the scheduled noon kickoff time due to positive tests and contact tracing within the Miners’ program.
