Late field goal gives LSU upset

GAINESVILL­E, Fla. — Max Johnson threw three touchdown passes in his first college start, Cade York kicked a 57-yard field goal with 23 seconds remaining and reigning national champion LSU stunned the Gators 37-34 on a cool and foggy Saturday night in the Swamp.

Kyle Trask got the Gators (8-2) in position to tie it, but Evan McPherson was wide left from 51 yards on the final play.

Johnson threw for 239 yards, nearly half of them (108) to Kayshon Boutte, and ran for 52 more.

Trask accounted for four touchdowns and three turnovers.

NO. 21 COLORADO 21

Ty Jordan scored twice, including a sealing 66yard burst, and the visiting Utes’ revamped defense forced three turnovers to help rally past the Buffaloes.

Colorado freshman receiver/returner Brenden Riceshowed off his speed by scoring twice — on an 81-yard punt return and on a 61-yard catch off a bubble screen.

DeVonta Smith returned a punt 84 yards for a touchdown as the visiting Crimson Tide scored 28 points in 11 minutes in the first half and beat the Razorbacks.

Najee Harris scored touchdowns 14 seconds apart, and a plunge from 1 yard out by Brian Robinson Jr. had Alabama cruising.

NO. 13 COASTAL CAROLINA 42, TROY 38

Jaivon Heiligh caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Grayson McCall with 45 seconds left and the Chanticlee­rs preserved their first perfect regular season with a win over the Trojans.

McCall was 24 of 29 for 338 yards and three touchdowns. Heligh had 11 catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns.

JT Daniels threw three touchdown passes, two to George Pickens, and the visiting Bulldogs routed the Tigers.

Daniels completed 16 of 27 passes for 299 yards, and Pickens caught five passes for 126 yards.

Kedon Slovis threw an 8-yard touchdown to Amon-Ra St. Brown with 16 seconds left for his fifth passing touchdown of the game, and the host Trojans rallied from an 18point, third-quarter deficit to beat the Bruins.

Cam Porter ran for a career-high 142 yards and two touchdowns, Evan Hull added a season-best 149 yards on the ground and the host Wildcats tuned up for the Big Ten championsh­ip game by beating the Illini.

Michael Carter and Javonte Williams set an NCAA record by combining for 544 yards rushing, and the visiting Tar Heels beat the Hurricanes.

Spencer Petras threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns to Ihmir Smith-Marsette to lead the host Hawkeyes past the Badgers for their sixth win in a row.

SAN DIEGO STATE 14

Zach Wilson threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns, and the host Cougars held the Aztecs scoreless over the final three quarters.
