4 DIET SMOOTHIES

DON'T GIVE UP! Keto, paleo, vegan or dairy-free: There's a smoothie to keep your New Year's resolution

If you, like millions of other Americans, made new year’s diet resolutions there’s a good chance you’re teetering on the edge right now. According to U.S. News & World Report, nearly 80 percent of us will ditch those best intentions by mid-February.

Because changing a diet is hard — really hard. But making smoothies is not. At least for breakfast or a midday snack, we’re here to help you get back on the wagon.

This week we’re blending up four different smoothies that fall in line with vegan, paleo, keto and dairy-free diets. Each delivers a wholesome dose of nutrition, not to mention craveable and refreshing flavor — and all can be made with a simple, conventional blender.

Our Vegan Mango-Coconut Green Smoothie is certainly distinctive with a bright green color. If you aren’t familiar with green smoothies or have had off-putting versions made with bitter greens such as kale or arugula in the past, fear not.

This version turns to tender and mild baby spinach for a big nutritional punch that has little of the bite you’d get from more mature or robust greens. And what green flavor there is gets largely hidden in the fruity, tropical taste of chopped mango and orange juice.

Many green smoothies come up short in the texture department, and we’ve solved that problem as well. Canned coconut milk is the secret weapon here, giving this smoothie a silken texture you’d normally have to use dairy products such as milk or yogurt to achieve.
