If you love Asian and Hispanic food, you’re going to squeal with excitement over an online-only grocer that recently launched service in San Antonio.

In August, San Antonio was added to the delivery area of California-based Weee! The grocer stocks 3,500 Asian and Hispanic food products that can be hard to find even in well-provisioned specialty stores. I recently placed an order to test the service and can enthusiastically say it won’t be the last time I shop there.

The selection here covers shelf-stable products like rice, noodles, canned fish, sauces and snack food. Fresh items like meat, vegetables and milk aren’t available for delivery here. The snack food items are probably the most entertaining, as Weee! carries a wide range of items designed primarily for sale in Asia.

With a slick website and mobile app, the Weee! shopping experience is similar to browsing the sites for H-E-B or Amazon Fresh, with food organized into several categories and searchable by product name.

The delivery is slower than those services. My box arrived four days after the order was placed, but everything was well packed with none of items were crushed or broken.

My recent haul from Weee! was an impressive one that put about a dozen unfamiliar flavors in my pantry. I scored several bags of Lay’s potato chips in flavors that include roasted chicken wing, cucumber, roasted garlic oyster and grilled squid, all an enjoyable, unexpected-yet-familiar flavor experience.

I also was able to stock up on some pantry staples, including cellophane noodles, gojuchang in a convenient squeeze bottle, spicy Moroccan sardines and a large bag of dried morita chiles — a slightly less smoky type of chipotle that’s not stocked in many stores in San Antonio.

There were also two absolute hits I hadn’t tried before and will definitely be ordering again. The first was Bull Head Shallot Sauce, an oily concoction of shallots, chiles and other spices I can’t wait to dribble over a bowl of steaming rice. The second was Kuze Fuku & Sons Yuzu Fruit

Spread, which tastes like orange marmalade with a lemony kick that will be a great addition to my next charcuterie and cheese

spread.
