S.A. area homes sales climb in August

Home sales in August 2021 increased two percent compared to August 2020, from 3,726 to 3,788. August closed with 3,434 pending sales and 4,663 new listings, a 15.96 percent increase in inventory. All market data was provided by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR), which reports on all areas contained within the Multiple Listing Service. “August closed with an increase in sales throughout Bexar County and 3,294 new listings leading into September,” said Cher Miculka, SABOR’s 2021 Chairman of the Board. “Additional­ly, 101 percent of homes on the market sold for their list price.” Home sale prices in August averaged $353,662, with a median price of $298,200, a 16 percent rise from August 2020. The average price throughout the state of Texas was $386,232, a 17 percent increase over last year’s August prices. Similarly, median price in the state increased by 17.5 percent to $315,000, compared to $269,000 last year. In Bexar County, a

4.2 percent increase in sales was seen with 2,707 homes sold in August. New listings increased to 3,294, compared to 2,872 in 2020. In all of Texas, a total of 42,808 new listings hit the market and August closed with 52,802 active listings.

Bexar County home sales totaled 2,707, increasing 4.2 percent from 2,619 sales in 2020. Compared to neighborin­g counties, Travis County’s home sales decreased 5.9 percent (1,583 homes), Harris County increased 7.6 percent (5,030 homes), and Dallas County decreased 5.6 percent (1,999 homes).
