Seattle QB to miss games following finger surgery
RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is expected to be sidelined for several weeks after he had surgery Friday to repair two injuries to his right middle finger.
Wilson flew to Los Angeles to see hand specialist Dr. Steven Shin and determine the best course of action to repair the injury.
Wilson ruptured a tendon in what often is referred to as mallet finger, and he also had a “fracture-dislocation” of the joint at the top of his middle finger, Shin said in a statement released by the team. Rehabilitation of the injury will begin this weekend.
Johnson, Bills sign 3-year deal
The Buffalo Bills have signed cornerback Taron Johnson to a three-year contract extension that runs through 2024.
The team announced the deal on Saturday. It’s worth $24 million, including about $14 million guaranteed for the fourthround pick out of Weber State in 2018.
The 25-year-old Johnson has played a valuable role as Buffalo’s nickel cornerback alongside starters Tre’Davious White and Levi Wallace. He had a sack, a forced fumble and two passes defended against Miami in Week 2, becoming the fifth Bills player since 1999 to accomplish the feat.
Kittle sidelined with calf injury
The San Francisco 49ers placed star tight end George Kittle on injured
reserve with a calf injury that has been bothering him for weeks.
Kittle played through the injury last week but was unable to practice at all this week. The Niners decided to shut him down for at least the next three games in hopes he can be completely healed for the second half of the season.
Cannon to miss at least 3 weeks
Texans starting right tackle Marcus Cannon has been placed on the injured reserve, the team announced Saturday, which means the lineman will be sidelined for at least three weeks.
Cannon was already ruled questionable against the Patriots on Sunday, and, since he did not practice all week with a back injury, the team prepared backup Charlie Heck to start in Cannon’s place if needed.

The Las Vegas Raiders placed two of their top cornerbacks on injured reserve Saturday with starter Trayvon Mullen and backup Damon Arnette both shut down for at least three weeks.
