2. Stage
Teatro Audaz kicks off its 2021-22 season with “Man of the Flesh,” native San Antonian Octavio Solis’ contemporary spin on “The Trickster of Seville,” the first telling of the story of Don Juan. Holly Nanes directs.
Opens Thursday. 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and Nov. 1-2 and 2 p.m. Oct. 31, Cellar Theater, The Public Theater of San Antonio, 800 W. Ashby Place. $15 to $25, teatroaudaz.com.
3. Comedy
Alex Reymundo, who was raised in Fort Worth, toured early in his career with Ron White and Paul Rodriguez. Judging by the titles of his specials, “Red-Nexican” and “Hick-Spanic,” Reymundo sounds like the comic offspring of those tour mates.
8 p.m. Thursday, 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. Friday, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club, 618 NW Loop 410. $40-$160 for tables for two, four or eight, improvtx.com/sanantonio.
4. Author talk
Writer David Sedaris returns to the city as part of the tour pegged to his new book, “A Carnival of Snackery: Diaries 20032020.” The book is a follow-up to “Theft by Finding,” which covered 1977 to 2002. 2 p.m. Saturday, H-E-B Performance Hall, Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, 100 Auditorium Circle. $50 to $60, tobincenter.org.
5. Movie
“Last Night in Soho,” Edgar Wright’s psychological thriller about a lonely fashion student who becomes lost in her dreams of London’s swinging ’60s, is getting mixed reviews. Even so, its young stars, Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy, and its stylish milieu make it an attractive alternative to the hightestosterone action flicks that have dominated the fall movie season.
Opens Friday in theaters.
