New S.A. beer garden to open soon

-

Camp 1604, a massive new camping-inspired beer garden from Austin-based company KPG Hospitality, is scheduled to open in the coming weeks on the Northwest Side. Located at 5535 N. Loop 1604, the complex will feature a 4,000-square-foot indoor bar and an 8,000-squarefoot beer garden filled with oak trees, picnic tables and camping chairs.

In addition to the beer garden, KPG Hospitality will also open an arcade-inspired concept called Kung Fu Saloon next door.

The beer garden, which will include a full bar that also highlights local beers, was slated to open this summer. Weather pushed the project back to September and supply issues caused by the pandemic have delayed the project even further.

While Bri Domowitz, a KPG Hospitality spokeswoman, said there isn’t a specific opening date, the company is hoping for a late October or early November grand opening.

A new mango-chili beer to try

A puro San Antonio beer is being brewed in Fort Worth.

Martin House Brewing Co. has decided to get in on the San

Antonio beer action with Twanga-Rang, a new beer inspired by Mango Chili Twangerz, made by venerable San Antonio beer salt company Twang.

Twang-a-Rang has a similar flavor profile to Mango Chili Twangerz, according to a news release, with sweet mango followed by a little spicy chili and salt.

The beer is now available at San Antonio bars the Growler Exchange and the Park Bar at Pearl. It also is available in stores at H-E-B, Total Wine & More, Spec’s Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods and Trader Joe’s. A sixpack costs $10-$12.
