LARGE WORKPLACES
including one for intelligent operations and automation and two for advanced technologies.
“Our biggest focus inside of the San Antonio area is providing service to the federal government and helping the nation’s taxpayer money go best at improving the way that we can serve and support every person inside the United States,” Lange said.
Accenture’s employees started working remotely at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Many are still working from home, though they have the option to work in the office or split their time between the two, Lange said.
“Shifting into the pandemic allowed us to provide some of the lessons learned that we’ve had in more of a virtual model — allowed us to better educate and honestly transform some of our clients’ businesses as they adapted to a virtual world,” Lange said.
“We had all the channels necessary to continue business as usual and really not skip a beat,” she added. “I
think the one thing we’ve kind of missed is seeing faces and hugging and keeping that community that we have in office.”
The company said its benefits package includes 401(k) match and savings plans; reimbursement for back-up dependent care, adoption and fertility costs; 16 weeks of maternity leave; eight weeks of primary caregiver leave; and a customized app with fitness and nutrition tracking, brain games and healthy pregnancy coaching. It also offers breast milk shipping for mothers who are traveling.
Accenture provides volunteer, mentor and fundraising support to San Antonio Sports, SA Yes, ChildSafe, Junior Achievement, March of Dimes and the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
The firm also offers flexible work arrangements, including working from home, flexible hours and telecommuting. That was important to Lange, who was raised by a stay-athome mother she said she
wanted to emulate when she became a parent herself.
“I really wanted to make sure that I can be a great mom, just as my mom was to me,” Lange said. “Accenture has so much flexibility in making sure we have remote work opportunities, even before the pandemic.
“We recognize that if a person can’t bring their best self to work, we are going to be hurting as a company,” she added. “We really were pushed to be innovative in being able to support personal balance for individuals.”
An employee who participated in the survey echoed Lange.
Accenture “allows me to be flexible with my work and kids school schedule,” the person said. “They understand being a mom and working full-time has its conflicts, but they allow me to be flexible with my schedule in order to accommodate the drop-off and pick-up times for school.”
