REX ERNEST LINN

Rex Ernest Linn, 75, loving husband of Carol Linn, departed this world for his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, while at his home in San Antonio. Rex was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on January 27, 1946, to Donald Reed Linn and Arwilda Estella Linn (nee Enders) and spent his first 9 years in Ohio. The Linn family then moved to San Antonio, Texas to provide a better climate for Rex’s seasonal asthma. Rex quickly adjusted too and embraced being a Texan. While attending Harlandale Junior and Senior High Schools in San Antonio, Rex became proficient at music and photography. Those two skills became passions for Rex that would stay with him for life. Upon graduation, Rex attended SAC, worked a day job, played weekends with his band, “The Shadows” and used his photography skills to make extra money. Shortly after graduation, with Vietnam escalating, Rex enlisted in the US Army and served 2 years in the Reserves. 1968 was a turning point for Rex due to “Hemisfair”

68, marriage and starting a family. The economic boom of Hemisfair helped Rex find his eventual calling in life as an entrepreneur as he started two different businesses. As a young entrepreneur, Rex found the going tough and had to reenter the job market. But God had a plan all along for Rex and his career. Rex gained invaluable experience in the construction business through a series of career progressions to include a long run at Fisher Lumber. Toward the end of the 1990’s Rex fulfilled his career dream as a business owner again, founding LumberLink, Inc. LumberLink is a very unique business with a very unique product. Rex had done his homework and found a niche where he had little competition. For Rex, nothing topped the love he had for Jesus Christ, his Wife, children and grandchildren, and serving others whenever and however he could. the lives of those who knew him, was his Christian faith. Rex’s home church for many years was Northwest Hills Baptist Church, and of late, the First Baptist Church of Carrizozo, NM. Rex’s devotion to faith is evidenced in his family, friends and the many outreach activities he participated in and outside his church homes.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents Arwilda (“Susie”) Smithpeter ,and Donald Linn. Rex is survived by his wife of 28 years, Carol Linn, children, Windi (Mark) Semmes, Rane (Jenny) Linn, Misti White, Skylar (Ariana) Linn, Leslie Martinez, Kimberly (Ruben) Ramon, 10 grandchildren, and his brother Rick (Drew) Linn.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021, 2pm, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, TX 78232. A private committal service to be held at Fort Sam National Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, https://www.diabetes.org
