1. Concert
Texas blues guitar great Jimmie Vaughan got a big gift for his 70th birthday: the career-spanning box set “The Jimmie Vaughan Story.” He’s touring in support of the five-CD set, which showcases his work with the Fabulous Thunderbirds, the Vaughan Brothers with brother Stevie Ray and solo, as well as his collaborations with
B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and many more.

2. Book
“The 1619 Project” ($30, One World), the New York Times’ examination of the history and impact of slavery in the United States, touched off a lively and ongoing discussion when it was published in August 2019. Print copies of the section sell for more than $100 on eBay. It’s now available in an expanded book form, with literary works — poems and stories — that complement the original nonfiction essays.
On sale Tuesday.
3. Family
The San Antonio Botanical Garden’s fall blockbuster is Lightscape, an illuminated trail that has sold out in Chicago and the U.K. The Alamo City installation will include established favorites, such as a cathedral made from 100,000 lights, as well as a new bluebonnet field.

4. Stage
“Season’s Greetings from San Antonio” is a homegrown revue created by Matthew Byron Cassi and Darrin Newhardt. The show follows the a capella quartet the Dotz as they prepare a TV special in which they highlight beloved holiday music and local traditions. 5. Movie
Small-town life gets a lot more interesting for Trevor and Phoebe (Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace) when they discover their grandfather was a ghostbuster in “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” The long-awaited sequel features appearances by most of the stars of the original “Ghostbusters.” Opens Friday.
6. Streaming
“The Wheel of Time” is Amazon Prime’s entry in the race to launch TV’s Next Big Thing. An epic fantasy based on the books by Robert Jordan, it stars Rosamund Pike as a member of a powerful group of women working to protect the universe from the forces of darkness.
