1. Concert
Singer-songwriter Todd Snider got uncharacteristically funky on his last album, “First
Agnostic Church of Hope and Wonder.” The name of his current tour, “Pickin’ … Grinnin’ … Telling Stories … Takin’ Requests,” suggests he may be making amends with fans. Doors 7 p.m. Thursday, John T. Floore’s Country Store, 14492

2. Opera
Opera San Antonio is opening “Rigoletto,” the company’s first full production since the start of the pandemic. Verdi’s dark tale is about a jester who has always been willing to go along with his employer’s cruelty until it touches his daughter.

3. Classical music
Chamber music fans will have to take the plunge to experience Agarita’s latest project. The quartet is teaming up with composer and sound artist Nadia Botello for a program inspired by the San Antonio River that will be streamed so it can be heard underwater at the Alamo Heights Pool.

4. Theater
The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is presenting “Interview with a Mexican,” which uses humor to explore misconceptions about Mexican culture. The touring production, which was inspired by Gustavo Arellano’s “Ask a Mexican” column, comes from Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center in Denver.

5. Movie
The summer movie season kicks off with “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” The title tells you almost everything you need to know except for the fact that the sorcerer supreme, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is joined by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), fresh off the great Disney+ series “Wandavision.”
Opens Friday in theaters.
