For lobster roll fans weary of chasing the city’s best food truck around town, here’s good news: The wickedly named Masshole food truck is staying put for the long haul at the popular River Walk food truck park El Camino.

Masshole, specializing in New England-style lobster rolls on toasted brioche bread, rolled onto the scene in late 2020, and just a year later earned the No. 1 spot in the Express-News 52 Weeks of Food Trucks series. The Express-News review of Masshole last year said, “The flavor of the lobster really comes through, in sweet pearly chunks blushing red along the edges, with claw meat rising like a defiant finger in the face of anybody grousing about $22 for a sandwich.”

The truck operates from 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. El Camino, home to a number of food trucks, including El Camino owner Ricky Ortiz’s own Holy Smoke Barbecue & Taquitos,

is located on the River Walk at 1009 Ave. B.

The bad news is that the rolls have gone up 50 cents and they don’t come with chips anymore. The good news is that Masshole has added lobster grilled cheese and a Singapore-style lobster roll with sweet-hot chile sauce to the menu.

The move to a more permanent spot comes as Masshole plans to franchise its operation with more trucks locally and beyond, said Adam Bylicki, who owns Masshole with his wife, Susan Bylicki.

Parking the truck at El Camino was an easy choice for the Bylickis.

“It’s a destination now. They do everything really well, from the marketing, the drinks, the bartender, the misters,” Adam Bylicki said. “They really go out of their way to take care of their visitors.”
