Sonoma Ranch is located in Helotes, a suburb not far from the sprawling University of Texas at San Antonio campus. Its Texas Hill Country locale offers rugged terrain, epic vistas and easy access to some of the toniest resorts in South Texas. It’s an ideal spot for growing families or those looking to retire in style.

What is collectively known as Sonoma Ranch is actually a master-planned community comprising Arbor at Sonoma Ranch, Enclave at Sonoma Ranch, Hills at Sonoma Ranch, Meadows at Sonoma Ranch, Springs at Sonoma Ranch and Summits I and II. Homes are priced in the high $300s and upward past the $1 and $2 million mark; and their construction was largely completed in the early 2000s.

Find great schools in Sonoma Ranch

Sonoma Ranch is part of the Northside Independent School District and feeds into Beard Elementary School (ranked No. 2 elementary school in the NISD) and Garcia Middle School (No. 1 middle school in NISD). Neighborhood kids also attend Brandeis High School, which is considered one of the best high schools in the San Antonio metro area. The area is also home to the Primrose School at Sonoma Ranch, part of a nationally accredited network of preschools and day care centers.

Sonoma Ranch has easy access to dining and shopping options

Though Sonoma Ranch is quintessentially suburban, it offers easy access to Loop 1604 and is located less than 30 minutes from downtown San Antonio. Its location near the UTSA campus means there are a bevy of restaurants, cafes and shops just a short car ride away. Nearby, The Shops at La Cantera offer high-end dining options and luxury retailers.

Sonoma Ranch: It’s a lifestyle

It may take Sonoma Ranch residents a little longer to get to the new, hip downtown San Antonio restaurant, but that doesn’t mean the area doesn’t have its own perks. When it comes to family-friendly attractions, its location near Six Flags Fiesta Texas (six miles away), SeaWorld (12.5 miles away), and the Texas Hill Country can’t be beat. Nature enthusiasts appreciate the proximity to Eisenhower Park, Madia

Natural Area, Medallion Park, Crownridge Canyon Park, and nearby trails.

Golf pros (and spa lovers) will love the proximity to award-winning courses at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort and Spa and La Cantera Resort and Spa, which offer club memberships and pay-to-play tee times, respectively. For those looking to tee off for a less expensive price, the public Cedar Creek Golf Course offers time slots beginning at $5.
