Pilgrim Center of Hope will present a special Shroud of Turin exhibition

- STAFF REPORT

Pilgrim Center of Hope will present a special exhibition titled “A Journey with the Shroud of Turin: Who Do You Say He Is?”

The exhibition invites visitors to draw their own conclusions about the long-studied Shroud of Turin, a linen cloth that many believe to be the burial cloth of Christ.

A full-size, certified replica of the Shroud of Turin, along with reproductions of the instruments of torture that may have been used on the man whose image appears on the Shroud, will be on display, according to PCH.

The authenticity of the shroud has been debated for centuries, by people of varied faith backgrounds and fields of study.

The Pilgrim Center of Hope has produced a streaming series “Who is the Man of the Shroud?” that explores the mystery of the shroud.

The first two episodes will be screened on Feb. 6, followed by a question and answer session with cast and creators of the series.

Pilgrim Center of Hope, a Catholic faith-based organization, said it holds no official position about the Shroud of Turin’s authenticity.

The Catholic Church has not issued a statement regarding whether the Shroud is the burial cloth of Christ, although several popes have personally venerated it.

“True crime is among the most popular genres right now, and this could be the biggest unsolved mystery of all time,” said Angela Sealana, director of the streaming series.

Self-guided tours of the exhibition are available.

“Christians may journey through the presentation as a pilgrim, while others can experience it as an observer,” Mary Jane Fox, Pilgrim Center of Hope co-director, said in a press release. “Everyone discovers something different.”

The exhibition runs Feb. 6-8 at the Cana Ballroom of St. Peter the Apostle Church. The event is free although donations are accepted. For more information visit DiscoverWho.org.
