Bernard “Ben” Aoueille, Jr., age 95, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023, in San Antonio,

Texas. He was born on November 23, 1927, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to parents, Ida and Bernard Aoueille, Sr. After graduating from Kennedy High School in 1945, Ben joined the US Merchant Marines, sailing from New York City to Morocco and Italy and then traveling up the Pacific Coast of South America and through the Panama Canal before returning to the United States. Ben met the love of his life, Minifred Teltschik Aoueille, at the 1947 Floresville Peanut Festival and they married in 1952. Ben served in the US Army from 1952-1954, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He graduated in 1956 from Texas A&I University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He started his sales career working for Glasscock Bros. Manufacturing Company before joining the Coca Cola Bottling Company and eventually retiring in 1987. He began his second career as a probation officer for the Bexar County Adult Probation Department where he demonstrated his compassion and love for helping others for nine years.

Ben accomplished much in his professional career, but his most meaningful legacy is the love and laughter he shared with so many. He could always be counted upon to compliment a smile and never missed an opportunity to say “I love you more.” While he wasn’t one to take himself too seriously, one of Ben’s many gifts was his ability to share valuable wisdom through an unlimited series of witty remarks and phrases. His ‘benisms’ (as coined by his family), were delivered daily to anyone that would lend an ear. At face value, his anecdotes were his way of making friends and family laugh. Yet, they most often centered around life’s most meaningful lessons: the importance of kindness, honesty, hard work, and family.

Ben made many life-long friends as the former president of the Cosmopolitan Club and the Cadillac Men’s Club, both social and service organizations which he was a part of for over fifty years. Ben was a long-time member of First

Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon at Northwood Presbyterian Church.

Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Bernard Aoueille,

Sr.; his beloved wife, Minifred Aoueille; and daughter, Carol Aoueille Oberman. Ben is survived by his brother, Henry Aoueille; Sister, Gay Von Dohlen; Sisters-in-law, Gloria Aoueille and Judy Teltschik; his children, Bernard (Trey) Aoueille,

III MD; Suzanne Aoueille Pawelek and Randall Pawelek; Minette Aoueille and Michael Lell; his grandchildren, Ceceilia Celeste Oberman and Paul Patridge; Jordan and Eva Pawelek; Katherine Aoueille and Michael Zozokos; Avery Aoueille; Cameron Pawelek and Sydney Loyed; Caroline Pawelek; and Emma
