Librado “Leroy” Garcia went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the age of 71. He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie C. Garcia, and Socorro S. Garcia; brother, Johnny S. Garcia; sister, Rosemary Lozano. Leroy is survived by his loving wife Mary Morlett Garcia; brothers Armando (Lupe), Eddie (Corine), sisterin-law, Frances Garcia, brother-in-law, Daniel Lozano, Sr., his “hermanita” Terri Smith (Wesley), his Dachshund and best friend Mario, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildre­n.

Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Leroy was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, where he played the trumpet as a member of the Mighty Voks Marching Band and continued as a member of the Sensationa­l Seventies Alumni group. As an employee

of the City of San Antonio, Leroy worked for 32 years as a machinist in the Purchasing & General Services Department. He volunteere­d much of his time working with various groups and organizati­ons, including The Jaycee’s and Knights of Columbus, where he earned his

4th Degree Knighthood. Leroy was an active member at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, having served as a sacristan, lector, Eucharisti­c Minister, member of the choir and served as the first male president of The Guadalupan­as.

Leroy was a loving husband, calling Mary his “Princess” and “the love of his life.” He cherished his family deeply and is remembered as a caring and humble man, someone who was incredibly passionate about his family. He could always be counted on for a good joke or even a good story. He kept God at the center of his life but was also never afraid to “tell it like it is.” Leroy loved life, he loved to laugh, and he truly loved his family. He leaves behind numerous family members, extended-family and countless friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Leroy honored his nephews in life and now these pallbearer­s will be honored in carrying him to his final resting place; Ray Villagran, Ralph T. Goode, Johnny Garcia, Jose Garcia, Armando Garcia Jr., Daniel Lozano, and Xavier Lozano.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help with a rosary to begin at 6:30pm. A viewing will begin at 11:00am on Monday, March 13, 2023, with a funeral mass at 1:00pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Interment to follow at Mission Burial
