GMC continues to offer a full lineup of practical, stylish and rugged pickup trucks and sport-utilities/crossovers for model year 2023, including the midsize Canyon and versatile Sierra pickups, and the Texas-built Yukon large sport utilities.

The Sierra 1500 light-duty pickup line was revamped and updated for 2022, and the firstever Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate and AT4X luxury models joined the lineup.

For 2024, the Sierra Heavy Duty trucks are getting a makeover.

Also new in the lineup is the GMC Hummer electric pickup and SUV models, reviving a brand name General Motors dropped 14 years ago – but this time only as battery-electric vehicles.

The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 was the first vehicle in production with GM’s all-new Ultium battery architecture and offers impressive on- and off-road features and a broad range of vehicle dynamics and performance features, GM says.

GMC Sierra 1500

GMC gave its Sierra 1500 full-size pickup a major update just last year, and expanded the model line with the all-new Sierra Denali Ultimate, and for off-road enthusiasts, the AT4X model.

The Sierra returns for 2023 with no major changes as it builds momentum from the 2022 upgrades and new additions. At the top of the line is the Denali Ultimate (base price $80,500), which GMC calls “the most advanced and luxuriously appointed Denali model ever and the most advanced and luxurious pickup in its class.”

As for the Sierra AT4X, the automaker calls it “the new peak of premium off-road performance with serious capability and uncompromising refinements.” It combines the features and elegance of a luxurious highway-cruiser pickup with the best elements of extreme trail-driving capabilities.

The Sierra Denali Ultimate, meanwhile, takes the high-end Denali trim a step further, with even more refinement and standard amenities. It puts virtually everything luxurious you can get for a pickup truck in the Sierra 1500 model.

Denali Ultimate has a standard 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8 engine and exclusive design elements, combined with premium materials and features such as the trailering-capable Super Cruise driver-assistance technology.

For 2023, the Sierra 1500 lineup is offered in regular cab (two doors, front seat only), Double Cab (four doors, front and rear seats), and Crew Cab (four fullsize doors and roomier cabin with two rows of seats) versions. Short, standard and long cargo boxes are available, depending on the model.

Regular cab models with the standard box begin at $38,995; regular cab with long box, $39,195; Double Cab with standard box, $42,295; Crew Cab with short box, $44,695; and Crew Cab with standard box, $48,295.

The Denali Ultimate comes only in the Crew Cab version with the short box and four-wheel drive. The 6.2-liter gasoline engine can be changed out for the 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel.

The 6.2-liter engine comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine is rated at 420 horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque. (The optional diesel produces 305 horsepower and 495 foot-pounds of torque.)

Standard exterior features include LED cargo-area lighting, the GMC MultiPro Tailgate, the MultiPro (bed) Audio System by Kicker, power/folding/heated mirrors, dual exhaust with premium tips, and LED headlights/taillights/for lights/daytime running lights.

Among interior features are a premium microsuede headliner, dual-zone automatic climate control, 16-way power massaging front seats, heated/ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seat with storage package, driver’s seat and mirror memory, heated/leather-wrapped steering wheel, and power sunroof. As for the Sierra 1500 line in general, the 2022 makeover included styling and design updates, inside and out.

Among the exterior highlights were new front bumper, fascia, and grille designs and finishes, which vary according to the specific trim level.

Also new were the dual-projector LED headlights, along with revised GMC signature C-shaped daytime running lights, intended to give the Sierra a bolder, wider appearance.

Fun features include animated lighting sequences that activate when approaching, starting or walking away from the truck.

GMC Yukon

For the ultimate in style and comfort, GMC’S Yukon full-size sport utility now comes in a Denali version, the brand’s high-end luxury trim level.

With a complete makeover for 2021, the Yukon received all-new styling, interiors and technologies, and, for the first time, the choice of a diesel engine. Yukon still offers two body lengths: the regular model at 210 inches, and the Yukon XL at 225.2 inches, and the Denali version is offered in both sizes. These two sizes are on parallel with the shorter Chevrolet Tahoe and longer Suburban, as well as the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, all of which are made on the same architecture.

These well-equipped and luxury–appointed big SUVs have seating for up to eight passengers, and plenty of cargo space. The available seven-passenger seating layout has dual captain’s chairs in the middle row instead of a three-person bench.

For 2023, the Yukon also is available in a Denali Ultimate version with standard fourwheel drive.

Prices for the 2023 Yukon regular models begin at $57,400 for the rear-wheel-drive

SLE regular-length model with the base 5.3-liter V-8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission, or $60,500 with four-wheel drive. The 3.0-liter Duramax inline sixcylinder diesel engine may be substituted for an additional $995.

Other trim levels include the SLT ($64,200 2WD; $67,200 4WD; 5.3-liter); AT4 ($70,805, 4WD only, 5.3-liter engine); Denali ($72,905, 2WD, Diesel; 6.2-liter; $74,405, 4WD, 6.2-liter); and Denali Ultimate ($93,600, Diesel; $94,655, 6.2 V-8).

Yukon XL models range from $60,100 to $99,150, and are available in the same trim levels and configurations as the regular-length models.

The newest generation of the Yukon is roomier inside for passengers and cargo than the previous generation, especially in the third row, where there is an additional 10 inches of legroom in the regular-length model. Cargo space also expands by 68 percent behind the third row, to 25.5 cubic feet, in the standard-length model. These boosts in passenger and cargo space result from a longer wheelbase and longer overall vehicle length, as well as a new independent rear suspension, which allows for a lower interior floor.

Standard power for the Yukon comes from the 5.3-liter V-8 engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 foot-pounds of torque.

Denali models come with the 6.2-liter V-8 engine, which cranks out 420 horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque. This engine is optional on the AT4 model, which comes only with four-wheel drive.

The available 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine, which is designed for trailering capability, provides 277 horsepower, but the same 460 foot-pounds of torque as found in the 6.2-liter gasoline engine. All engines are connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission with electronic shift control.

A trailering package is standard on all models. An enhanced trailering experience is offered with the available Trailering Integration Package.

All of these big SUVs are assembled at the General Motors plant in Arlington, Texas.
