“Election,” Alexander Payne’s classic comedy about an intense high school student council campaign, gets two screenings at Slab Cinema’s indoor space.

2. Rodeo
Texas music icon Robert Earl Keen is putting his retirement from performing on pause to play the rodeo. Since he started writing and playing music at Texas A&M, along with his friend Lyle Lovett, Keen has amassed a catalog of classic songs such as “The Road Goes on Forever,” “Merry Christmas From the Family” and “Feelin’ Good
Again.”

3. Books
In her first novel, “The Book of Love,” Kelly Link weaves together dark fantasy and reality in a way that will be familiar to fans of her acclaimed short stories. It’s about three friends who must work together to save their home and friends in spite of the inconvenient fact that they have died.
On sale Tuesday.
4. Stage
“Beetlejuice,” the musical adapted from Tim Burton’s 1988 film, is making its San Antonio debut as part of the Broadway in San Antonio series. It follows a newly dead couple as they try to navigate the afterlife.
