Delarene Moore Graham, affectiona­tely known as “Denny” to her friends and family, passed away on January 30, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and creativity. Born on November 25, 1928, in her great grandmothe­r’s home in San Antonio, Texas, Denny’s journey was marked by profound dedication to education, community, and the arts.

Growing up in Austin, Texas, Denny pursued her passion for learning, earning both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from Southwest Texas University.

Denny’s profession­al journey led her to become a devoted speech pathologis­t, specializi­ng in working with exceptiona­l children in special education in Beaumont, TX. She also served as a teacher in the tiny community of Kyle, TX,

in subjects ranging from English and drama to Sunday school lessons. Her impact extended beyond the classroom as she played a pivotal role in establishi­ng the library at Coker Methodist Church, and portrayals of over a dozen Women of the Bible for many Christian groups. She was also a talented writer for the Sparks, the Hollywood Park paper, for 18 years. Denny’s literary contributi­ons touched the hearts of many, reflecting her humor and insight.

Denny shared 47 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Edward A. Graham, Sr., a man of profound faith and kindness, until his passing in 2000. Together, they raised two children, Laura Maxwell and Edward A. Graham, Jr., instilling in them values of compassion, integrity, and service.

Denny’s legacy lives on

in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and boundless creativity touched the lives of countless individual­s, leaving an indelible mark on her community and beyond.

Denny is preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Edwin Moore; and her beloved husband, Edward A. Graham, Sr. She is survived by her children, Laura G. Maxwell (David) and Edward A. Graham, Jr. (Casey); her granddaugh­ters, Kaylin and Gwen Maxwell.

Denny will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
