1. Book
Anticipation for “The Meaning of Mariah Carey” (Andy Cohen Books, $29.99) may be as high as those high notes 20-year-old Carey hit on her debut album. With almost 20 No. 1 hits, highprofile romances and a reputation for lavish living, the iconic pop star has a lot to sing about in this memoir.
On sale Tuesday.
2. Streaming
Jim Parsons (“The Big Bang Theory”) and Zachary Quinto (the “Star Trek” movies) reprise their roles in a screen adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of “The Boys in the Band.” Mart Crowley’s play, set during a fractious, alcohol-fueled birthday party, was groundbreaking for its depiction of the lives of gay men when it opened Off-Broadway in 1968. Premieres Wednesday on Netflix.
3. Movie
Director Sofia Coppola reunites with her “Lost in Translation” star Bill Murray for “On the Rocks.” He’s an aging womanizer who steps in to help when his daughter (Rashida Jones) has trouble at home.
In theaters Friday.
4. Theater
The Classic Theatre returns to live productions after six months. The first show will be an outdoor edition of “Macbeth,” with the gifted John Stillwaggon in the title role as a general whose ambitions have
bloody consequences.

Ethan Hawke stars as abolitionist John Brown in the miniseries “The Good Lord Bird,” based on James McBride’s National Book Award-winning novel. The tale of his bloody crusade gets a bit twisted as told through the eyes of a teenage boy recently freed from slavery who joins Brown’s rag-tag family. Premieres 8 p.m. Sunday on Showtime.
