Reagan 45, Clark 7

-

two plays greater than 10 yards the Reagan defense allowed in the first half. The Rattlers quickly ended the Cougars’ drive and forced a punt.

Reagan’s Moore came back in to lead the offense as it started inside its own 20-yard line and completed all three of his passes on the drive. His arm, along with the running of Javier Colsa, set up Reagan’s fourth score of the first half. Green finished the drive with a 10-yard run to give Reagan a 28-0 lead.

Reagan’s defense held Clark to 76 total yards in the first half, with only 11 coming on the ground.

The Rattlers turned the Clark offense back on their fourth drive and set up their offense for one final score of the first half.

Reagan got the ball back with 1:07 left in the first half and the ball at its own 27-yard line. With the ball at the 44, Lorenz found Ankrom for a 54-yard pass to set up the Rattlers at the 2-yard line. Two plays later, Green scored his third touchdown of the half as he ran behind the right-side of his offensive line and waltzed into the end zone almost untouched.

Clark got the ball to start the second half, but the results mirrored the Cougars’ efforts in the first half. Their offense could not manage to move the ball on the stingy Rattlers’ defense and were forced to punt after three plays.

Meanwhile, the Rattlers took over at their own 37-yard line and ran off eight plays to set up Green’s second 10-yard touchdown run with 6:28 left in the third quarter.

With much of its backups in the game in the fourth quarter, Reagan tacked on a 30-yard field goal from senior Nick Hernandez.

Clark scored late in the fourth quarter. Keishaun Thompson found Nikos Varelas on a short dump off pass that the sophomore was able to turn into a 70yard scoring reception.

Game balls: Reagan’s offense gained 458 yards, with most of those coming on the ground. Javier Colsa led the way with 70 yards rushing on 10 carries. Green finished with 48 yards on 10 carries with four scoring runs. Lorenz and Moore finished with 197 combined passing yards.

The Rattlers’ defense held Clark’s rushing attack to just 23 yards on 24 carries. Thompson had most of the offensive numbers with 77 yards passing.

Up next: Clark (0-2, 0-1 28-6A) plays Brandeis at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Farris Stadium. Reagan (2-0, 1-0) hosts Brennan at 7 p.m. Saturday at Comalander Stadium.
